Karapakkam The 27th Factory Day of SEC’s Chennai units was celebrated on 1st July 2003 at Karapakkam. Among the participants were Vijay Sankar, Director and M N Radhakrishnan, Managing Director. 850 employees including long service award winners from branch locations attended the function.
In his address, Radhakrishnan, explained the importance of the performance culture in the changing global industrial scenario. S Gopal, Chief Executive, spoke on the subject of on-time delivery and the importance of customer satisfaction. K S Venkiteswaran, President –IR, spoke on the SEC Incentive Scheme and its importance to the business. Sarada Jagan, President – HR spoke on SEC’s training initiatives for 2002-2003.
Sixty-five employees received awards for “Exceptional Performance” and forty-eight received the Long Service award. D Kannappan, an operator from Sensortronics Sanmar, was declared the outstanding operator of the year for the Chennai units. Sensortronics Sanmar bagged the “Best Housekeeping” award for the Chennai units for the second year in succession.
Winners of an essay competition on the topics of “On time delivery for a prosperous future” and “Prosperity of employees is linked to prosperity of the company” were awarded prizes. Prizes were also given away for winners in sports and Kaizen. The Grinding Cell of Flowserve Sanmar was adjudged the best cell of the year among the Chennai units.

Viralimalai
The Factory Day of SEC’s Viralimalai units was celebrated on 4th July 2003 at Hotel Sangam, Trichy. 750 employees attended the function.
M N Radhakrishnan presided over the function and spoke at length on the execution culture. Vijay Sankar commended the performance of the Viralimalai units in difficult conditions during the year 2002-2003 and stressed the need to maintain a higher compounded annual growth rate (CAGR).
He also highlighted the importance of quality, cost, on-time delivery and performance orientation. V V Subramaniam, President–Finance highlighted the SEC units’ financial performance for the year 2002-2003.

K Mohan, Vice President–IR, summarized the proceedings and spoke on the performance of the Viralimalai units in respect of the incentive scheme and the long-term settlements implementation. Excellent performers and employees with 10 years and 20 years of service with SEC were recognized on the occasion.
M.Kothanda raman of Tyco Sanmar was declared the Outstanding Operator of the Year. Tyco bagged the Best Housekeeping award for the location for the second consecutive year based on year-long audited results. The Tyco Assembly Cell was declared the best cell of the location for the year.
