The long association of The Sanmar Group with the Chennai City Club Tennis League is one of its kind in the country. The league fosters old and young tennis players and generates a highly competitive spirit yet nurturing camaraderie among them. This is what the Chairpersons of the Group, KS Narayanan and his son N Sankar, had wished to cultivate in the society, and N Kumar and Vijay Sankar have taken these ideals forward, making this prestigious tennis event a significant part of the sports tradition of Chennai.

This year, 87 teams with around 550 players participated in all categories – 6 zones (A, B, C, D, E, and F in the Regular event), A, B, and C Zones of 45+ events, and 60+ events.
SANMAR-TNTA Chennai City Club League Championship 2022-23
The 30th edition of the SANMAR – TNTA Chennai City Club Tennis League was played during January, February, and March 2023. 78 teams with around 500 players participated in all categories – 6 zones: A, B, C, D, E, and F in the Regular event, A and B Zones of 45+event, 60+ and Mixed doubles events.

Tennis – 28th Sanmar-TNTA Chennai City League Championships
Vijay Sankar, Vice President, TNTA, gave away the prize money and the trophies to the winners and runners-up of the Sanmar-TNTA Chennai City Club Regular and Veterans League, October 2021.
Adidas-MCC National Junior Championship (Aug 2019)
The Adidas-MCC National Junior under-18 clay Tennis Championship for boys and girls held at Chennai from 12-17 August 2019 saw the best of young playing talent with 240 entries.
SANMAR-TNTA League Championship Madras Cricket Club, seventh time title winner
Madras Cricket Club ‘A’ lifted the KS Narayanan Rolling Trophy for the 7th time in a row beating Ransa Sports Club ‘A’ by a 2-0 lead in the finals of the ‘A’ zone at the 27th SANMAR-TNTA Chennai City Club Tennis League played at the Madras Cricket Club on 12 April 2019.
Sanmar has a long-standing association with tennis. N Sankar, Chairman – The Sanmar Group, N Kumar, Vice Chairman and Vijay Sankar, Deputy Chairman, have lent their support to the sport in many ways and have played a key role in ensuring the success of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association in Chennai and such prestigious events as the Chennai Open.
The Sanmar Group was the first sponsor of TATE (Tamil Nadu Academy for Tennis Excellence), the coaching arm of TNTA. With support from Sanmar, young tennis aspirants have the opportunity to train and excel in the sport. Sanmar also sponsors the Sanmar Inter-club League Tournaments in the men’s and veterans’ categories.

Adidas-TTT Sub Junior Nationals 2013
Vijay Sankar, Deputy Chairman of The Sanmar Group and Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association (TNTA), was the chief guest and gave away prizes to the winners of Adidas-TTT (Triangle Tennis Trust) National Sub-Junior Clay Court Tennis Championships 2013 held on 17 August 2013 at YMCA Nandanam.
