Support towards state-of-the-art medical equipment

The Sanmar Group’s contribution of ₹18.5 lakhs was for purchasing the Natus Retcam Envision Wide Field Imaging System. This advanced system provides high-quality retinal images, facilitating the treatment of diseases such as Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and peripheral diseases. (September 2024)

Sankara Nethralaya dedicated The Paediatric Ophthalmology Floor in memory of N Sankar in April 2023, acknowledging The Sanmar Group’s support over the years.

Sankara Nethralaya – Sanmar Centre of Excellence for Stevens Johnson Syndrome

The Sanmar Group CSR Trust supported the Medical Research Foundation in establishing the SN-Sanmar Centre of Excellence for Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), inaugurated at the Sankara Nethralaya in October 2021. SN-Sanmar Centre of Excellence will enhance clinical research, clinical expertise and patient care in the treatment of SJS, a devastating life threatening reaction in the acute stage, a rare disease that leads to corneal blindness in the later stages of the disease.

This centre will be one of a kind in the world, for brainstorming and planning the route map for adopting strategies, drafting research and treatment guidelines for SJS.

Eye disease Research

The Sanmar Group CSR Trust supported the Vision Research Foundation(the Research wing of Sankara Nethralaya) with Advanced Molecular Biology Infrastructure for Eye Disease Research by installation of the medical equipment, including a Realtime PCR, Multimode Microplate Reader, Microvolume Spectrophotometer and Ice Flaking machine, for ₹50 lakh.

The dedication of The Central Research Instrumentation Facility in memory of N Sankar on 25 June 2022 in presence of A C Muthiah, Chairman Emeritus, SPIC Ltd.
