The title win was ensured regardless of the outcome of the abandoned match between Vijay Cricket Club (50 points from 10 matches) and Indian Overseas Bank because of the bad pitch at Guru Nanak ground on Saturday.
Vasanth Saravanan, a former under-19 star, hit twenty-two 4s and three 6s. His innings included three vital partnerships – 51-run for the fifth wicket with B. Ramprakash (26) and an identical sixth-wicket partnership with S. Manoj (24). He added 46 for the last wicket, scoring all the runs with Sivaprakash at nil. This was a profitable season for Vasanth Saravanan, who totalled 643 runs at an average of 91.85.
