| TNTA felicitates Paes, Bhupathi |
| Chennai, Jan.19. |
| When the brilliant duo, Leander Paes and Mahesh
Bhupathi, was felicitated on the centre Court during the Gold Flake
Open on January 7, the event not merely symbolised a gesture towards
the tennis excellence of the stars of the decade but also served as
the launching pad for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Tamil
Nadu Tennis Association. |
| “Partnership and team work are what Mahesh and
Leander are all about. We wanted our mementos to reflect this,” commended
the TNTA President, Mr. N. Kumar, on that occasion. |
| Honouring Leander and Mahesh with a memento each,
studded with diamonds and silver, was not a just a celebration but
a forerunner to Platinum Jubilee, which the TNTA wants to dedicate
as the era for constructive promotion. |
| A unique effort is towards framing a development
programme. ‘Tamil Nadu Academy for Tennis Excellence (TATE),’ a trust
promoted by TNTA in the city. It will be professionally managed, focusing
on identifying talent by a panel of experts, giving exposure to chosen
players, conducting a series of training programmes assisted by Indian
and foreign coaches, and expanding the infrastructure. |
