Mrs Madhuram Narayanan Block inaugurated at the
Cancer Institute

On August 9, 2000 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi inaugurated two blocks at the Cancer Institute, built at a cost of Rs.2 crore with contributions from the Madhuram Narayanan Trust of the Sanmar group of companies and the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (formerly MRL). The group’s concern for the welfare of the less fortunate members of the society in a spirit of service, found expression in funding this noble cause.
Tracing his association with the Cancer Institute founded by Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy, the Chief Minister, who declared open the Madhuram Narayanan Block, lauded the services of the institute.
The dignitaries at the inaugural function included the former Chief Justice of Gujarat, P R Gokulakrishnan who inaugurated the MRL block, the State Health Minister, Arcot N Veerasamy, Madhuram Narayanan Trust Chairman, K S Narayanan, N Kumar, Vice Chairman of the Sanmar group of companies, CPCL Chairman Ram Mohan, and Cancer Institute, Adyar Executive Chairperson Dr V Shantha.
