| Sanmar Pageant Master rescues two Belgian nationals |
|
| On July 17, 2000 the Master of Sanmar Pageant was
advised by the Rescue Coordination Centre, Norfolk, to assist a sailing
boat which was floundering in the Atlantic. |
| The Master rescued two Belgian male nationals from
P M Charles, the sailing vessel, which was manned by the two of them.
We reproduce here the congratulatory telex message that the Master
of the vessel received from AMVER (Automated Mutual Vessel Emergency
and Rescue Centre) which is a division of the US Coast Guard congratulating
him and his crew on the rescue effort. |
| Congratulations to the Master, officers and
crew of Amver Vessel M/V Sanmar Pageant on the rescue/ recovery
of Messrs. Kleinjans and Grisar from S/V P M Charles on July
17, 2000. |
| The Amver program appreciates your prompt
and professional response when called upon by us, Coast Guard’s
Atlantic Area Command Centre. News of this rescue has been the
subject of Coast Guard press releases in both the Norfolk, Virginia
and New York City areas. There is the possibility of members
of the news media (both print and television) meeting your ship
on its arrival at Pier Kilo in Brooklyn. We anticipate reporters
will request interviews with the ship’s Master, survivors
and/ or members of the crew involved in bringing the survivors
aboard. |
