| The Sanmar Group’s firm commitment to
practising the highest ethical principles in business
received approbation and approval when the Rotary International
(RI) District 3230 conferred on it the ‘Vocational Excellence
Award’ on 19 January 2003. It was a moment of considerable
pride for the group when its Chairman, N Sankar, received
the award from the Rotary District 3230 Governor, M Balaji.
The RI President’s Special Representative at the conference,
Ranjit K Bhatia, District Governor nominee, Benjamin Cherian
and District Chairman for Vocational Service, K K Raman
were among those present. |
| The citation read out on the occasion
(reproduced in full here) said among other things that
“Sanmar has shown that it is eminently possible to be
ethical, even in an environment known to be corrupt”. |
| Sankar spoke on the Ethical Policy Document
prepared by The Sanmar Group which focuses on several
key issues like avoiding conflict of interests and nepotism,
promoting transparency, intellectual honesty and curbing
impropriety at all levels of the organisation. Integrity
is the central theme of the Ethical Policy Document, without
which an organisation would be morally bankrupt, he said. |
