| Mettron and Salt Works excel |
| Chemplast Sanmar’s Mettron plant, Mettur
and Vedaranyam Salt Works were featured prominently in
the State Safety Awards—for 1998, 1999 and 2000—announced
by Chief Inspector of Factories, Government of Tamil Nadu.
(Both fall under the category ‘Group C industries’ employing
between 2 lakh and 5 lakh man-hours a year). |
| The Mettron plant won the following
three awards: |

First prize
for achieving the highest reduction in weighted accident
frequency rate for 1999 compared to the previous year |

Third prize
for the lowest accident frequency rate compared to other
industries for 1999 |
 |
Third prize
for the longest accident free period for 1998. |

| The Vedaranyam Salt Works won the following
award: |

Second prize
for the lowest accident frequency rate compared to other
industries for the years 1999 and 2000. |
| The Salt Works has been a regular recipient
of the State Safety Awards almost every year since 1990,
bagging 12 awards in all during the period 1990-2000. |
| While Tamil Nadu Minister for Law D
Jayakumar presided over the prize distribution function
at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai on 31st March 2003, the
awards were presented by Tamil Nadu Minister for Labour
A Anwar Raja. Executive Vice President, V Ramachandran
received the awards on behalf of the company. |
