| Sanmar Speciality Chemicals Limited
(SSCL) has participated in quite a few developmental activities
in and around Berigai village. |
| SSCL contributed towards the digging
of two borewells at different locations in Berigai. The
borewells constitute the main source of drinking water
for the village. |
| The lake at Berigai, spread over about
60 acres, had not been de-silted for years. Drought conditions
prevailing in the district resulted in the drying up of
the lake which is the perennial source of water for habitation
spread over a radius of 10 km. When the local panchayat
initiated activities to de-silt the lake, SSCL donated
Rs.1.20 lakh towards de-silting 9000 cubic metres of the
lake. The cheque was handed over to the panchayat officials
at a gathering on 16 May 2003. |

| SSCL has also made a vital contribution
to the success of the scheme to provide midday meals for
school children, when it constructed a kitchen for the
Panchayat Union Primary School at Sulakunta. The kitchen
was a long-felt need of the school. |
