| Sanmar Speciality
Chemicals Limited (SSCL), Berigai, was selected for the second
prize in the annual awards programme for the best implementation
of 5S under the category of medium scale industries. |
| The award is
instituted jointly by ABK-AOTS DOSOKAI (Tamil Nadu centre),
an alumni association of Japan-trained technocrats and executives,
and Carborundum Universal Ltd., of the Murugappa group, Chennai.
The award was announced after two rounds of facility inspections,
each by a two-member panel of judges from ABK-AOTS DOSOKAI. |

made a case study presentation of best 5S practices at a one-day
seminar held at Chennai on May 31, 2002. M M Murugappan, Director,
Carborundum Universal Ltd., presented the AOTS-CUMI award at
a colourful function. |
