| Thalassery,
a small town in Northern Kerala, wore a festive look on March
31, 2002. It seemed the whole town was taking part in the 200th
anniversary of cricket at Cannanore, an event that was sponsored
by AMP Sanmar. A souvenir was released by P V Subramanian, Consultant-Operations,
AMP Sanmar, to commemorate 200 years of cricket at Cannanore
District Cricket Association (CDCA). |
| There were AMP
Sanmar banners all over the town announcing an exhibition match
between Srikkanths India XI and Ranatungas Sri Lanka
XI. A crowd of ten thousand came to watch the match braving
the merciless sun. They stayed on till the last wicket was taken.
The people of Thalassery, who are as passionate about cricket
as Brazilians are about soccer, responded to the match in admirable
fashion. |
