The Sanmar family suffered a grievous bereavement
in the demise of a close associate of the Sanmar group, Dr Michael
George Kailis, Founder and Governing Director of the MG Kailis
group. He passed away on June 25, 1999. In his passing away,
the Sanmar group has lost a dear friend. We reproduce here a
letter received from KG Palmer, Managing Director,
MG Kailis group. |

| Dear Sankar |
| It is with deep sadness that I write to inform
you that our Founder and Governing Director of the MG Kailis
Group, Dr Michael George Kailis, passed away on 25 June, 1999. |
| Regrettably, Michael had not been well for
several months and unfortunately the illness proved to be tougher
to beat than the many challenges that Michael had surmounted
during his lifetime. |
| How does one express the loss of someone of
the magnitude of Michael Kailis? We have lost a very dear friend,
our leader and mentor to the Group. |
| The foundation on which the MG Kailis Group
has been built will remain an enduring monument to the vision,
determination and drive demonstrated by Michael, who will be
treasured by all as a great Western Australian. |
| We hope that the relationships which Michael
has forged in his active commercial and community activities
will be long remembered. |
