Ten years at Cuddalore

Elf Atochem Peroxides India Limited (ATOPIL), Cuddalore was in festive mood in January 1999, as the Cuddalore plant completed ten years of its operations.
A sports meet on 10th launched the celebrations. Various special events were conducted on the 17th for ladies and children.
A factory visit was organized for the families of employees on 24th January. It was a unique journey through the back waters of the sea in boats. The families enjoyed every moment of this trip. In the cool backdrop of the coconut trees, a small get together and lunch followed.
The cultural programme on 27th January, brought out the hidden talents of the children of Atopil employees. Folk dance, group dance and swimming were the highlights of the evening. N Subramanian, President, recalled the various phases the plant has undergone through the decade. Long service awards were presented. J L Jouk, Gorree and Salles of Elf Atochem, France, were present on the occasion, besides the local dignitaries including the District Collector of Cuddalore.
The function at the plant on the morning of 28th January was befitting the occasion. Claude Blanchemaison, Ambassador of France to India and Dr H D Dieckmann, Ambassador of Germany to India, graced the occasion by their presence.
Dieckmann lighted the traditional lamp to inaugurate the function. N Sankar, Chairman, happily recalled the steps taken in establishing the joint venture Elf Atochem in India and expressed the hope that the plant would continue to do well in the days to come. The Ambassadors promised the continuous cooperation of their countries to the joint ventures in India and to Chemplast Sanmar in particular.
N Kumar, Vice Chairman, Sanmar group, in his address, thanked the guests.
The celebrations at Cuddalore ended on a note of hope and confidence, not only for the management and employees but for their families too.
