The PVC business of Chemplast is integrated backwards i.e., it gets its feedstock, industrial alcohol, from its alcohol plant at Panruti, near Cuddalore, and chlorine from its chlor-alkali facilities at Mettur and Karaikal. |
It has the necessary port-based infrastructure at Tuticorin to import feedstock like ethylene dichloride (EDC). |
It has an Oxychlorination plant to increase production of captive feedstock, i.e., EDC, and ensure effective HCl utilisation. |
It has a captive power generation capacity of 10 MW meeting 100% of the PVC plant’s power requirements. The neighbouring chlor-alkali plant also has an additional 30 MW power generating capacity, further augmented through windmills. |
